Season 21, Episode 01 – “50th Anniversary Special”
A special episode to celebrate Landward’s 50th anniversary. Dougie takes a long walk through the landscape and through five decades of this important rural affairs series. He revisits stories from the archives, revealing huge changes in the Scottish countryside. The Landward cameras documented vanishing ways of life and key moments, from devastating animal disease outbreaks to historic land buyouts and extreme weather events. We learn that what began as ‘Scotland’s farming programme’ became a broader reflection of all aspects of living and working in rural Scotland. Dougie meets up with past and present members of the Landward team as they share their best moments from working on the programme.

Season 20, Episode 26 –
In a special festive programme, Dougie is in Lockerbie to join the annual Christmas tractor and truck run. He looks back on the series highlights of 2025, revisiting the stories that Anne, Arlene, Cammy, Rosie and Shahbaz have covered. Marking his first year on his Ayrshire farm, Cammy recalls the big moments in his farming year. Season 20, Episode 25 –
As winter begins, Dougie visits the wetland reserve at Lochwinnoch in Renfrewshire to see the birds that check in over the colder months. Weather presenter Chris Blanchett heads up the high-level Lecht Road to find out how our winters are changing with less snow anticipated in future. Arlene is in the Pentland Hills near Edinburgh to meet a fungi enthusiast, and Dougie is on a farm in the Borders, to help guide a herd of Galloway cattle to their winter pasture. And it’s the last of Rosie’s farm food stops. This time she’s in Perthshire, where she meets the deer farmers making the most of venison.

Season 20, Episode 22 –
Dougie, Cammy and Anne are bound for ‘the Queen of the Hebrides’: the Isle of Islay. Dougie visits some of Islay’s distilleries to find out why the island is such a world-famous whisky destination and how the industry is responding to this global demand. Meanwhile, Cammy is at the RSPB’s Oa nature reserve, on Islay’s most southerly tip, which is a haven for endangered crow species the chough. He discovers how the management of livestock is benefiting this rare species. Anne catches up with one of Islay’s best-known sons, Glenn Campbell, as he reflects on his upbringing on the island. She is also on the trail of one of Islay’s landowners whose lasting legacy has been overlooked.
